MySQL Workbench 5.2.3 Alpha Available
September 16, 2009 – 10:34 am by taxWe’re happy to announce the availability of the next Alpha release of MySQL Workbench 5.2. There have been further improvements to the querying part and we added the foundations for the administration part (which will be onboard in the next alpha).
On startup, MySQL Workbench 5.2 now doesn’t automatically create a new design-document anymore – thats for decreasing resource-usage when you only launch Workbench for running a few queries against your database. Also the fix to make Workbench work on Snow Leopard has been included in 5.2 now as well.
Please download the program, take it for a test-drive and tell us what you think. But keep in mind, that this is still an alpha version – so be advised to not use it for production data! Also please note, MySQL Workbench files saved with version 5.2 cannot be opened with previous versions of our
program.
For Linux we now deliver the same selection of binary packages as for 5.1. The files for different platforms have been pushed to our main server and will be globally available on our mirrors during the next hours.

It’s really nice to see another version so quick. But… Will it ever be possible to get stable version of Workbench? New functions are great, but with every release there is some problem (mainly with exporting to SQL).

Hello Workbench Team,
Does this 5.2.3 release include bug fixes from the 5.1.18 release? For example, it seems the bug #46740 (Model/DB Synchronization fails, creates new Schema ‘N/A’) is still present in this 5.2.3 release.
By the way, you reference the ‘http://wb.mysql.com’ page where you post news and additional information about your progress. But we are always redirected on the ‘http://dev.mysql.com/workbench/’ page instead. Is this normal?

The 5.2.3 Alpha version seems to generate SQL statements with syntax error in it.
The “)” is missing in DDL (like CREATE TABLE) statements

Hello Workbench Team
I confirm what Alex said: when you generate SQL statements for Table Creation, there is a syntax error in it: The ) is missing in DDL

Hi, this is already fixed in the source code and will be available in the next 5.2 Alpha release. Thanks for pointing this out!

Hello Sir I am getting one problem in MySql Workbench that when I click Export->forward engineer SQL Script then there is dialog which ask for output file name aftering entring the name I click 2 options first is Generate Drop statement before each create statement & second is Generate Insert statement for tables. First option is giving right output sql file but second option(Insert Statement Option) is giving wrong output that is empty sql file.
